Yannick Bright is the first Italian to be chosen at Major League Soccer’s SuperDraft, the ‘annual event during which teams in MLS, the top North American soccer league, choose the best talent to integrate into their roster. The 2001-class midfielder was selected with the number 15 pick by Inter Miami and will be eligible to sign a contract with the Miami team.
From the fields of suburban Milan, via the Serie D, Yannick Bright has landed in the United States, selected after the 2019 Yeswecollege Italian Showcase, in which some of our country’s most promising prospects eager to pursue the “American dream” were screened. In four years wearing the jersey of the Wildcats, the University of New Hampshire team that plays in the NCAA Division I championship, the premier U.S. college football tournament, Bright has come into his own, showcasing all his talent and qualities, as evidenced by the countless individual awards he has been honored with. In fact, he has twice been included on the “First Team All America,” the ideal best eleven in the States collegiate league, and has three times been elected “America East Midfielder of the Year,” the best midfielder in the America East conference, as well as making his first season on the “America East All-Rookie Team,” the best rookie team in his conference.
After four years living as a student-athlete at the University of New Hampshire, the former number six for the Wildcats will be able to sign a professional contract and play in Major League Soccer, sharing the field with some global soccer stars such as Lionel Messi, Lorenzo Insigne and Xherdan Shaqiri. Also thanks to Yeswecollege, Yannick Bright is finally ready, as his name suggests, to shine.
